<br />
Very shortly after I decided that I need to judge whether to keep clothes by deciding if I would like to wear them at least once a week, I went and made a dress to wear one day a year. It was made, and worn last year but it took awhile to get the photos (taken by a friend who is a professional photographer) and it just didn't seem right to post them in the summer.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzVRh-EsWn_sp0MIHfLRY_B64K3WqY61VGXqxSrL9S-aGQWXV90iS2ClH2xiHqWqAlr9I8JchDo80lZ4hJuaPWuXLR9vVfiH5RXvKe5Ma1PT9lJ35GflCmg_cT2ck8QK0TzsHHXfwgyAo/s1600/carol_9585.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzVRh-EsWn_sp0MIHfLRY_B64K3WqY61VGXqxSrL9S-aGQWXV90iS2ClH2xiHqWqAlr9I8JchDo80lZ4hJuaPWuXLR9vVfiH5RXvKe5Ma1PT9lJ35GflCmg_cT2ck8QK0TzsHHXfwgyAo/s640/carol_9585.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the Jewish Holiday Yom Kipper (our day of Atonement) it is customary to wear white and to not wear leather. So for shoes I wear:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLrTaa7tvIjXfgpzbmvvo8YE1WZZzhyWEf2IyBdohzU1GD9MSNsnU282nR1PPXWrAxUPTdJfFZT6ydhOZVMdmEVim7j1CC9pq4mw0h3okm-sDUENmLqO5O1BsgFhuCVY4Yw4FilXoTUMk/s1600/IMG_2781.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLrTaa7tvIjXfgpzbmvvo8YE1WZZzhyWEf2IyBdohzU1GD9MSNsnU282nR1PPXWrAxUPTdJfFZT6ydhOZVMdmEVim7j1CC9pq4mw0h3okm-sDUENmLqO5O1BsgFhuCVY4Yw4FilXoTUMk/s400/IMG_2781.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Yes a bit of a fashion faux pas to wear a winter wool dress with summer espadrilles, but I am okay with it. Reminds me of a college mate in the hey days of preppy fashion who thought espadrilles were okay for formal wear.<br />
<br />
It pleases me greatly that I made a dress for a religious holiday from a book called <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Tunic-Bible-Interchangeable-Ready-Wear/dp/1617453560/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537242469&sr=8-1&keywords=tunic+bible" target="_blank">The Tunic Bible</a>.<br />
<br />
The fabric, bought at <a href="http://www.moodfabrics.com/" target="_blank">Mood</a>, is wool crepe, a fabric I love sewing with. The style is relatively casual but I gave it a few couture finishes. Interlined with a lightweight batiste cotton. Seams were pinked and catch stitched. Lined with Bemberg. The trim, from Joyce trimming was reasonable priced, but just the look I was going for. <br />
<br />

Adjustments made:<br />
<br />
Pegged the hem by tapering in 1" on all seams.<br />
A 2" FBA<br />
Lowered the darts after I did the FBA.<br />
Raised the neckline up 1/2"<br />
<br />
Adjustments I, surprisingly, did not make:<br />
<br />
Narrow shoulder adjustment<br />
Any petite adjustment.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A lot of work went into a dress that won't be worn very much, but I like it a lot and am very happy with it. I expect to wear it for years.</div>

<br /></div>

I'll be wearing it tonight when the holiday starts.</div>

As a sewer, one of the most fun things about having another birthday, is the opportunity to make a fun dress that you don't really need:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfh8wuzBxADLDgkqmwqkZDLNUu66GSJP3Om7IY7LLe4RoyUF8aPHEJLIJwZ6Z5kg-w0lHsyje60hRXo5dfdzT3fcCYqu87bwXNJ3WXI65X7lRRQvz0WzfczpqtviwzaB8rOLG9i5paZn8/s1600/IMG_3617.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfh8wuzBxADLDgkqmwqkZDLNUu66GSJP3Om7IY7LLe4RoyUF8aPHEJLIJwZ6Z5kg-w0lHsyje60hRXo5dfdzT3fcCYqu87bwXNJ3WXI65X7lRRQvz0WzfczpqtviwzaB8rOLG9i5paZn8/s640/IMG_3617.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
As this one was a big one, I figured a pretty pink party dress was the way to go.<br />
<br />
The pattern is the Tom and Linda Platt designed <a href="https://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v1348" target="_blank">Vogue 1348</a>.<br />
<br />
The fabric was a very easy to sew with Silk. I believe it is a Dupioni, though it is on the thin side and isn't slubby at all. It definitely needed the organza underling, which I would have added if the pattern didn't already call for it. Purchased from Chic Fabrics on West 38th St.<br />
<br />
Once the 15 pieces of fabric, lining and underlings had been cut out, the underling hand basted in, and the marking points for the pleats thread traced, this was a very easy sew.<br />
<br />
The fit was so close right out the envelope. With a little help from <a href="https://www.instagram.com/wzrdreams/" target="_blank">Grace</a>, all that was needed was taking in the princess seams on the front a little bit more between the shoulder and bust point and a bit on the back princess seams.<br />
<br />
I opted to concentrate on matching the horizontal lines of the check and am very happy with the result.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZAyeI1CcjRedIZ-uvjOmIu8VRjlRPty8Yg-V1OcZeh2kZBUe3cDVTXv7uRV5McbJUhwDN9YtyGCbSHaihuhqhgS_7HfVRXx7jl1MeZJKAgg8HG7c-qQ8LMt2why4X39Asf7GXTXMiNjo/s1600/IMG_3638.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZAyeI1CcjRedIZ-uvjOmIu8VRjlRPty8Yg-V1OcZeh2kZBUe3cDVTXv7uRV5McbJUhwDN9YtyGCbSHaihuhqhgS_7HfVRXx7jl1MeZJKAgg8HG7c-qQ8LMt2why4X39Asf7GXTXMiNjo/s400/IMG_3638.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Used lots of pins. The walking foot was of no help with this fabric. The fabric cut beautifully<br />
and I used pinking shears to finish the seams. This dress won't be worn that often and will be dry cleaned.<br />
<br />
It had been quite awhile since I've sewn a Vogue Designer pattern and it reminded me that I really like do so (sew?).<br />
<br />
The corsage was a very appropriate gift from <a href="http://domesticcoquinette.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Claire</a>.<br />
<br />
Pictures were taken at <a href="https://www.thepresslounge.com/" target="_blank">The Press Lounge</a> on rooftop of The Ink 48 hotel. A perfect venue on a perfect weather day.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Wanting to use a piece of fabric from deep stash (my Mothers's from the '70's) is great justification for buying more fabric. I have a 4 meter cut of Liberty fabric. It's lovely but in colors that I know if i made a dress, I wouldn't wear it that much. On the other hand it would be perfect for a pair of <a href="https://store.closetcasepatterns.com/collections/sewing-patterns-all/products/carolyn-pajama-sewing-pattern" target="_blank">Carolyn pajamas</a>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV-3Z_HE7QmBz0gwIJBH3Gf7_C_K10UwGn1_Te1gbbSVUnqPU-orA6T9g4P1lwMy1TcUi4-ITRmcWkUnIDlzG6l_T6Ilu4iGkJWWS2FcbRGfBHLuHRxQceulAvKumN9muerDWnKQHTQhc/s1600/IMG_2701.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV-3Z_HE7QmBz0gwIJBH3Gf7_C_K10UwGn1_Te1gbbSVUnqPU-orA6T9g4P1lwMy1TcUi4-ITRmcWkUnIDlzG6l_T6Ilu4iGkJWWS2FcbRGfBHLuHRxQceulAvKumN9muerDWnKQHTQhc/s640/IMG_2701.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Back in August, on the<a href="http://makeitanywear.blogspot.com/2017/08/august-was-very-sewcial-month.html" target="_blank"> Jackson Heights Fabric Crawl</a>, one of the items on my wish to find list, was flannel fabric to make a tester pair before I cut into my vintage fabric. At Liz Fabric's I found a plaid in lovely colors. The fabric on the right:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk367je8Bsv3jG7RpwduKphmIKoWSgVTj43WhiakuQtHArmCzT_X-0-YxjR0JA6lSNqrcLrYhAe0OZyk8WN7pRIxD7xzk3DIpk0vNzohgNCEPArPvBRl9Um2GF6DUje1TI2k-zj2deTUc/s1600/IMG_2530.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk367je8Bsv3jG7RpwduKphmIKoWSgVTj43WhiakuQtHArmCzT_X-0-YxjR0JA6lSNqrcLrYhAe0OZyk8WN7pRIxD7xzk3DIpk0vNzohgNCEPArPvBRl9Um2GF6DUje1TI2k-zj2deTUc/s320/IMG_2530.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The hand is wonderfully soft, which is terrific for something you are going to sleep in. Unfortunately the print was off. Not just off grain, but it somehow the lines of the plaid actually curve:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTnDxsCkLCJOtMiYHd3E3zF9wnKfqO1pVWGfocORqif3LZxUoB-YA7YxXmQLVUy7FASqtA5VlNW9HlPUBw2GFFYCuEhNxcoSZ67d46J03Bh4ykVykXBQZkNmyf9cJJ6gyMRb7kyaBBI2Q/s1600/IMG_2695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTnDxsCkLCJOtMiYHd3E3zF9wnKfqO1pVWGfocORqif3LZxUoB-YA7YxXmQLVUy7FASqtA5VlNW9HlPUBw2GFFYCuEhNxcoSZ67d46J03Bh4ykVykXBQZkNmyf9cJJ6gyMRb7kyaBBI2Q/s320/IMG_2695.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
While I made a good stab at pattern matching, which worked in some places, see front at the top, I couldn't carry that through the whole garment when i reached a curve patch. And Ididn't have enough fabric to cut the pant cuffs on the bias. In the end I had enough length to just leave them off. But hey, pajamas.<br />
<br />
Size wise its a 4 for the neck, shoulders and sleeves graded out to an 8 for the rest and that worked perfectly. For the waistband I used 1" elastic and cut 1/2" off the top and the bottom. I am very happy were they sit just under my waist. Good call on not doing a petite adjustment which I usually need. <br />
<br />
On the top, in addition to the grading, I took in the cuffs by 1" and took the sides of the sleeve in to match, starting just under the armhole. Hopefully this nice narrower sleeve will be easier to keep out of the dishwashing.<br />
<br />
Only change to make on the next pair, is to either use a slightly narrower cord in the piping (yes I made my own) or leave out the cording and just use a flat piping.<br />
<br />
This was my 4th <a href="https://closetcasepatterns.com/" target="_blank">Closet Case Patterns</a>, pattern. I guess I'm officially a fan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOr-7rjGPz8jfqzgytEtBsGNFKp7cRsOMguae2fr3BrCGKgUG6I1DwvxvQDEv8YRkcj1g-COVz33ur-BHBZXz1amckOSe_NakooJa98giErcU3wauY7VdRqsoyvT6ez1ov73iLhWP0gLk/s1600/IMG_2703.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOr-7rjGPz8jfqzgytEtBsGNFKp7cRsOMguae2fr3BrCGKgUG6I1DwvxvQDEv8YRkcj1g-COVz33ur-BHBZXz1amckOSe_NakooJa98giErcU3wauY7VdRqsoyvT6ez1ov73iLhWP0gLk/s640/IMG_2703.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of use out of these. I love sewing lingerie/loungewear items as you really get worn. My<a href="http://makeitanywear.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-bought-my-fabric-at-home-goods.html" target="_blank"> bathrobe</a> gets worn everyday and I have a unblogged nightgown, that is a floor length Doe and Deer Plantain Tee, that I really enjoy.<br />
<br />
Now to get the 2 projects I have waiting to blog about photographed<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />MakeitAnyWearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06370808424691476472noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8287151389638095210.post-83358006204559074092018-01-23T04:47:00.000-08:002018-01-23T04:47:07.153-08:00Black and White and Worn All Over...<br />
So after my last post, I went ahead and sewed up a few things, enjoyed wearing them, but never posted.<br />
<br />
I think every sewer gets to that point when you realize you have all the pretty dresses and brightly colored items, you need and don't have any me mades of the kind of clothes you wear daily. It becomes especially apparent when you try to participate in MeMadeMay and as happened before I gave up in the second week.<br />
<br />
Now that's not been a big issue for me. For my general work wear I source basic pieces from Banana Republic and J Crew, often on the sale rack or the outlet stores, but I decided it was time to sew for this category of my wardrobe.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgld7qAXGjb3v8i2sb4H9_OvZRMqsPciKwuNIiXpT5WvOUgQcox8C9Q-R3t0-Y0OBhp8RSEE_NyybefLpT4mkPUZFilTy-IWzM2xDWAQQWigsGXxCR2lnVH-_AaUqAcotlBZuzvmdudJrU/s1600/IMG_2627.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgld7qAXGjb3v8i2sb4H9_OvZRMqsPciKwuNIiXpT5WvOUgQcox8C9Q-R3t0-Y0OBhp8RSEE_NyybefLpT4mkPUZFilTy-IWzM2xDWAQQWigsGXxCR2lnVH-_AaUqAcotlBZuzvmdudJrU/s640/IMG_2627.JPG" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The print is my last purchase at the now gone Paron's, a store I'd been shopping at for over 30 years. I still have a shopping bag from when they, and all the good fabric stores, were on 57th St.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
There are 2 lovely darts in the neckline. On this printed silk charmeuse, I choose to leave them as unstitched pleats:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNjmBFJ5mh6p1hXQJzohP9VPFwRL71yxOcGVBkmWLnh1Xg_-3s44CvF72TYec0_lfrt3zPYQirwF_1FHW-BjLTi_rg4sMt4-O9VqGc8u6V8vwvKX2eCqTtb4_62ay10D609kq9LO2j2CQ/s1600/IMG_2633.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNjmBFJ5mh6p1hXQJzohP9VPFwRL71yxOcGVBkmWLnh1Xg_-3s44CvF72TYec0_lfrt3zPYQirwF_1FHW-BjLTi_rg4sMt4-O9VqGc8u6V8vwvKX2eCqTtb4_62ay10D609kq9LO2j2CQ/s640/IMG_2633.JPG" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
The top is my first competed Burda Style garment. I was nice to finally tackle one. When I made the muslin, it was way to big but the neck and shoulder lines were nice and all it needed was a major take in down the side seems. 1" per seam for a total of 4". That left me with a perfectly fitting armhole and I still have plenty of ease.<br />
<br />
Lately I've been thinking a lot about having less items in my wardrobe that don't get a lot of wear. Now when I purge, the question I've been asking is "Is this something I could be happy wearing once a week?"<br />
<br />
I am keeping less of those, "oh I'll wear it sometime items".<br />
<br />
I had bought a nice piece of black poly crepe from Kashi at Metro Textiles with the idea of making another cold shoulder dress. I realized that while lovely and fashionable, it would not get an awful lot of wear. So instead I made a pair of culottes. Perfectly good for work wear for me. The patten is McCalls 7445. The outcome is just okay. I you really look closely three are some unwanted folds in the fabric. It may have been a the weight of the fabric in combo with the zipper weight or it may be a crotch curve issue. While the not quite perfect fit it doesn't really show at all. Hey its black.<br />

On both tops, I used the facing the facings method that Peter describes <a href="http://malepatternboldness.blogspot.com/2018/01/how-do-you-feel-about-polka-dots.html" target="_blank">here. </a><br />

There should have been 3 posts. And it should have been done a few months back.<br />

I love nothing more than getting together with a group a people who share my interest in a hobby and August was a terrific month for that.<br />
<br />
First on the calendar was MPB day. <a href="http://malepatternboldness.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> Peter Lappin's of Male Pattern Boldness</a> annual get together. I'm pretty sure that this was my 4th attendance.<br />
<br />
I meet the group at the FIT museum a little too late to be in the group photo:<br />

I'm wearing a McCalls 7542 made in a gingham from Metro Textiles. I should blog it. I had to address sleeve cap issues.<br />
<br />
A nice moment of the day was seeing a new fabric store opening. We've seen so many close...<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuhAUVlEdI6GCtt0767WpnV4LuWz3cxG2ElyBbfMnIADb6HZcgaIgehE9JTvKiTXC793-74veJ-miJr9-DnLKYyxLtStV5OcvdcpMKAIUCInzeAnmtEtDGYylFtzeW7JnfOztMw0mf_-4/s1600/IMG_2467.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuhAUVlEdI6GCtt0767WpnV4LuWz3cxG2ElyBbfMnIADb6HZcgaIgehE9JTvKiTXC793-74veJ-miJr9-DnLKYyxLtStV5OcvdcpMKAIUCInzeAnmtEtDGYylFtzeW7JnfOztMw0mf_-4/s640/IMG_2467.JPG" width="480" /></a><br />
<br />
We also visited the new French Couture Fabrics. I plan to go back there for some leather for a skirt.<br />
<br />
And what does one do the weekend after a great day of fabric shopping? One goes fabric shopping again:<br />
<br />

Thanks to <a href="http://jinxandgunner.blogspot.com/">Jinx and Gunner</a> to we had a terrific day on the Jackson Heights Fabric Crawl. We visited 5 great fabric stores all located very close to each other in this Queens neighborhood.<br />
<br />
So my commitment to myself this year was to limit fabric purchases to that which would be used right away. As they say about best made plans.....:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjR_vnPCXXha2ik8c55YWiyqaWXmEZMfPMyF7SBVld3oAU2MrW9qGlfg4LcaugoI4heaswi0eFzTB_q5uD5MSRs6yah-X2_rdsBOQkjJCYKXKMMC0R6qzBhoJGxpjHqEWbLmaMxfcXOLQ/s1600/IMG_2530.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjR_vnPCXXha2ik8c55YWiyqaWXmEZMfPMyF7SBVld3oAU2MrW9qGlfg4LcaugoI4heaswi0eFzTB_q5uD5MSRs6yah-X2_rdsBOQkjJCYKXKMMC0R6qzBhoJGxpjHqEWbLmaMxfcXOLQ/s640/IMG_2530.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The two to the left are both Rayon Challis'. Having been lamenting the lack of pretty Rayon Challis in the Manhattan Garment District, we found the mother load in Jackson Heights. These both came from M&J fabrics, where everyone of us purchased fabric mostly rayon challis. I hope that they will still be stocking this substrate next year. We've already made plans to have a spring crawl, but I can easily make a stop here on the return from my infrequent visits to my office.<br />
<br />
They grey floral is for a dress I've been thinking of for quite a while. I have a pair of grey shoes that don't go with much. TNT shift bodice with a half circle skirt. A version I've not done before. <br />
<br />
The solid blue is planned for a Style Arc Marilyn Dress. <a href="http://sewingfantaticdiary.blogspot.com/2017/08/the-marilyn-dress-by-style-arc-patterns.html" target="_blank">Carolyn</a> did a nice job with this one.<br />
<br />
The flannel is for <a href="https://store.closetcasepatterns.com/products/carolyn-pajama-sewing-pattern" target="_blank">Carolyn Pajamas</a> as December Holidays' project.<br />
<br />
And then on the last Tuesday of the month there was #NYSewcial hour:<br />

<span id="goog_535877369"></span>I've been eying lemon prints for awhile, but neither black or white grounds were doing it for me.<br />

<br />
Well not quite.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.stylearc.com.au/stylearc/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=895&category_id=3&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=43">Taylor Skirt from Style Arc Patterns</a>:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipBJ-8T9C-eK1JH8ixoz_zypHjicznKEbv9yDr-rmN2ZtAatgaqQMK-L5tHEMX_M8D0Dny9WkyBlRfnCUB8MyFEdlgGqOr9LFldBOQNUjYNWdp7aaVZJUWzetrhcj8ZxysYwej0qmGRzM/s1600/IMG_2545.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipBJ-8T9C-eK1JH8ixoz_zypHjicznKEbv9yDr-rmN2ZtAatgaqQMK-L5tHEMX_M8D0Dny9WkyBlRfnCUB8MyFEdlgGqOr9LFldBOQNUjYNWdp7aaVZJUWzetrhcj8ZxysYwej0qmGRzM/s640/IMG_2545.JPG" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This was my first go at a Style arc pattern. I bought it through Etsy so while I got three sizes, but they can only be printed out one at a time and aren't nested. My measurements put me at a mix of the 8 and the 10. I don't like clothes that are too tight so I went with the 10.<br />
<br />
And it came out way to big. It was the begin of winter and I put it away. Now that Spring is here (though we've had a couple of days Summer) I figured it was time to fix it.<br />
<br />
I took it all apart and took 1/2" off each of the side seams, then reattached the waist elastic and redid the hem.<br />
<br />
Now it looks quite perfect. Even the back view:<br />
<br />

<br />
The fabric is one of the stripe pontes that <a href="http://www.moodfabrics.com/">Mood</a> always has available whether in-store or <a href="https://www.moodfabrics.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=stripe+ponte">on-line</a>.<br />
I used one to make a Coco Dress pre blog as did <a href="https://lladybird.com/2016/10/13/completed-a-striped-coco-dress/">Lauren</a>. <a href="http://goodbyevalentino.com/saint-james-knock-off/"> Sarah </a>used one very recently.<br />
<br />
<br />
I love what the seaming does to the stripes:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
Ultimately I've ended up with a successful make, but I'm still hesitant about using a Style Arc pattern again. There are a<a href="http://cookinandcraftin.blogspot.com/search?q=Style+arc"> few </a><a href="https://thornberry.wordpress.com/?s=style+arc">bloggers </a>for whom their styles really work, but I think I'm really not their body type. If there's a style that I just can't find elsewhere, perhaps.<br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Sorry blog, it's been awhile. Between my cheapy camera not handling the winter light in my apartment, lots of winter knitting, a series of muslins that haven't yet lead to something I'm ready to cut out, and yet another pair of Ginger Jeans which might be too boring and a bit loose so that photos look very wrinkly, I haven't had anything to blog about, but.....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've made a bra!</span></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibYUY2SHv7TRTlgER8HCE5-1PtMM2BiKJCrZPJy6oSCmHB7hAPKBtnvwbKEJ-oylFLtXSPYk0gmGTQaEOQmgdZdTIRLhzmFCPBria9rgYP2-a_jVeeMthwpoPex0XxRBBkmzukOsFmnoU/s1600/IMG_2518.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibYUY2SHv7TRTlgER8HCE5-1PtMM2BiKJCrZPJy6oSCmHB7hAPKBtnvwbKEJ-oylFLtXSPYk0gmGTQaEOQmgdZdTIRLhzmFCPBria9rgYP2-a_jVeeMthwpoPex0XxRBBkmzukOsFmnoU/s400/IMG_2518.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As someone with a not easy to find size, who has probably never worn a bra that fits properly in her life, I'm really taken with the idea of custom making my own bras. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I've bought all three of Beverly Johnson's <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/">Craftsy</a> bra classes and started with a Pin Up Girls Classic bra. Unfortunately I took some sizing advise that didn't work out. I was so excited when the Cloth Habit <a href="https://shop.clothhabit.com/collections/all/products/harriet-bra-pattern">Harriet Bra</a> was released and saw that it was available in my 28G size. According to the size chart my measurements put me in an F, but I went with the G. This one isn't going to work either. Band is very good. The gore tacks really well, the the cups are still too small. Its close enough to try one size up.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What I really want to make note of is that I used a <a href="https://braandcorsetsupplies.com/product/ks-single-bra-kit/">Bra Maker's Supply Kit</a> and if you are going to use one to make a Harriet, there are a few things to know.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I thought my size called for a 3 hook closure but the back height is for a 2 hook closure. I think the 2 size packs is what through me off. Luckily I had one (not the right color so I just basted it on to test. Easy enough to redraft the back band for a 3 hooks and I will do so on the next one I make, mostly because I already have the closure.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To get the wider bottom band elastic to work I had to trim some of the elastic out of the way of the wire casing. This worked out fine.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Because I was using wider elastic than the bra was designed to use, for the second pass of stitching on the bottom band elastic, I stopped it when I got to the casing seam, started it up again for the center, stopped again for the second cup and then started again to finish the other size. Not a problem with this either.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Another workaround that I did was to figure out a way to attach the strap elastic to the back band before stitching the side under the slider. On all my bras the straps are tightened as much as they can be and I thought I'd want to shorten them. It was a bit tricky but if you loop the the end loosely like this:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5qxnP9JuS5O_B8Qr3jBvqJ07zgAgEX7LVxTPYleeDCZFtFw2veoniLyLUrcaPiK1EG1IVO7h54gbLfVJsc-cxzT5YlmcM3IEJNeC0SHsEirYZaY0Xedsrg9b3zmL9iMe-Qewav07dHDI/s1600/fullsizeoutput_16c9.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5qxnP9JuS5O_B8Qr3jBvqJ07zgAgEX7LVxTPYleeDCZFtFw2veoniLyLUrcaPiK1EG1IVO7h54gbLfVJsc-cxzT5YlmcM3IEJNeC0SHsEirYZaY0Xedsrg9b3zmL9iMe-Qewav07dHDI/s400/fullsizeoutput_16c9.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">you can thread the slider after the back is attached. I need to take at least a couple of inches off the length so the slider stays in the front.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The other big note if you are using a Bra Maker's Kit for a Harriet is that you will not have enough strap elastic. The Pin Up Girls patterns call for a large part of the strap to be sewn of the cup material. Either add some extra strap elastic on to your order, or add a sewn strap.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I may not have gotten there yet, but I believe I will. I should have enough supplies for 2 more bras before I need to place another supply order. Colors next time.</span><br />

Like most people who sew I'll take a new project over an alteration or repair anyday, but sometimes it really is worth it. <br />
<br />
I have a well loved (and worn) leather jacket, who's lining was very shot. Having relined a beloved wool coat worn during college a few years post, I knew it was a job I could tackle.<br />
<br />
Having a coat relined professionally is cost prohibitive.<br />
<br />
Doing it myself it was done in 3 days and the cost was just $10 for a perfect piece of lining.<br />
<br />
I carefully removed the old lining:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjEN7hZOP4excuGnAVUMzGrx5_G4DQM-OIm-Hp1Cy_3KD0W_GeVhrRj1jZa0VunMS2gc90pKxFHNqKXzssVP8THgQcL7WETVqmIpJKyfcn_pTq6EJPjTdwjKi_c2j2T9_db-wCMDMSqUA/s1600/IMG_2473.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjEN7hZOP4excuGnAVUMzGrx5_G4DQM-OIm-Hp1Cy_3KD0W_GeVhrRj1jZa0VunMS2gc90pKxFHNqKXzssVP8THgQcL7WETVqmIpJKyfcn_pTq6EJPjTdwjKi_c2j2T9_db-wCMDMSqUA/s640/IMG_2473.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As you can see it really needed being replaced. I certainly couldn't take it off in front of a customer anymore.<br />
<br />
Used it as a pattern to cut the new lining. It's not always the recommended way to go, but it worked out fine.<br />
I picked up the lining at Fabrics Garden on 39th . I usually go there for inexpensive fabrics to use for lining. A lovely silver twill for $5.00 a yard.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The label and the hang chain were carefully replaced.</div>

<br />
This fabulous dress was made back in August and I'm finally posting now. The time lag is not representative of my feelings of how it came out. I think it is one of my most successful executions of idea that I had.<br />

<br />
<br />
The fabric is a menswear shirting from <a href="http://www.moodfabrics.com/">Mood</a>. Carefully selected to make sure it was one that doesn't wrinkle very much and is quite easy to iron.<br />
<br />
Finished with bias trim made from the same fabric.<br />
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A lovely venice lace add a very feminine touch to the menswear fabric. It also meant that all hems could be machine stitched as they would be covered with the lace. I did add to the sleeve hem so that the turn up matched the body hem. It was the perfect depth to place the lace stitching line exactly over the sleeve and hem stitching lines.</div>

<br />
This will be repeated for next summer as I've already bought a nice poly crepe and instead of the lace trim, I'm planning ruffles.<br />

<br />
I had a decent sized piece of denim left from my first pair of <a href="http://store.closetcasefiles.com/products/ginger-skinny-jeans-pattern?variant=3109793091">Ginger Jeans</a>; the idea that at some point I'd like to make a distressed pair of <a href="http://store.closetcasefiles.com/collections/pdf-patterns/products/morgan-boyfriend-jeans-pattern-pdf?variant=19019086534">Morgan Jeans</a>, and a need for something really casual for throwing over a bathing suit when traveling to the beach. When your trip to the beach requires riding the subway you need real clothes and not just a coverup.<br />

<br />
But found that this did a much better job:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It took 3 baths in bleach to get the final color.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
As expected, the bleach did a good job of killing the lycra. I was perfectly fine with no stretch on these. The mystery though was without the stretch would they be tighter or looser? Verdict is they loosened. A long spin in the dryer helped, but the looseness is good for the boyfriend look and for comfort.<br />
<br />
One last look:<br />

Maybe best desired as business to cocktail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHRRrOHcqzeELpl1Vl9JQUIL5hNlxWKamg6AboZ0irt-Mq0_lmrHKLECvmGCzgAgZiWUOgck6cxqq-Bi-lKjEJlKlVn3G8mMnknOse1_96_PsJWM_BhIW4XGvlEgmdlBCTYP-jX7jGKZQ/s1600/IMG_2374.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHRRrOHcqzeELpl1Vl9JQUIL5hNlxWKamg6AboZ0irt-Mq0_lmrHKLECvmGCzgAgZiWUOgck6cxqq-Bi-lKjEJlKlVn3G8mMnknOse1_96_PsJWM_BhIW4XGvlEgmdlBCTYP-jX7jGKZQ/s640/IMG_2374.JPG" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I took advantage of a fit clinic with <a href="http://www.kennethdking.com/">Kenneth D. King</a> at <a href="http://www.sewright.com/">Sew Right</a>, the terrific store where I bought my newest sewing machine.<br />
<br />
This was the second one I had attended. After the first I started thinking about the styles I that I could never wear as RTW. What silhouettes would actually flatter, if they were altered to fit me properly. Although I am a fairly standard petite height, my upper body is even more petite than petite sizing. A fit and flare style would suit my shape, but even in a petite cut, I'm still trying to fit my hips into a higher place. Additionally my shoulders are very narrow, my under bust very narrow and my bust full.<br />
<br />
The pattern is Vogue 8848 which I picked up on a rare Joanne's (bathroom pit stop on a business trip) visit. It definitely could only be made to work on me with expert fitting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://voguepatterns.mccall.com/sites/default/files/styles/p_xl/public/products/v8848/V8848_a.jpg?itok=_xmd49VQ" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://voguepatterns.mccall.com/sites/default/files/styles/p_xl/public/products/v8848/V8848_a.jpg?itok=_xmd49VQ" width="290" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Early this spring, on our yearly fabric shopping trip to find a good friends birthday present, I found this lovely Jason Wu fabric at <a href="http://www.moodfabrics.com/">Mood</a>. It is a cotton fabric, with a bit of texture. A bit thicker than most cottons, but not too thick. I'd describe it as something akin to a light upholstery fabric<br />
.<br />
It behaved up beautifully. A shot of steam and all those tricky pivot points just laid perfectly.<br />
<br />
All seams are bound with Hung Sung seam tape:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTKCSX5bgMkDyeyp6GBkBCeW19fdX9dYfRhbL2SfSW92mqXauQY7ADvX-XoCn1u3DuoRGM40stazkoKkGzhXiRC70cmqsL7EY_9b6KYP4nQGdFnS_0n5NXMHhllmVASUiIUayVSXT-yok/s1600/IMG_2423.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTKCSX5bgMkDyeyp6GBkBCeW19fdX9dYfRhbL2SfSW92mqXauQY7ADvX-XoCn1u3DuoRGM40stazkoKkGzhXiRC70cmqsL7EY_9b6KYP4nQGdFnS_0n5NXMHhllmVASUiIUayVSXT-yok/s640/IMG_2423.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
It might have been worth the effort to get the zipper and tape to match, but I used what I had and I still think it looks pretty.<br />
<br />
As the fabric has a lot more body than those the pattern called for, the stiffer fabric lead to too much in the skirt. I removed quite a large amount (24" total) from the flare. Just took out long triangle from hem tapering to nothing at the horizontal seams:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr3wVtzIVAbDD2yj5sIKBHPpRWzrCOnvkJYNGu4Werl1BAg0g30OoPXrbCutzQQLKu5uvBhJnughOhEnsuNqZ4HuLyb4XpsMQ-Ej_CVhO_x_NqOB9XtJeXTK0V742Wp257_P67qnk0RhQ/s1600/IMG_2240.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr3wVtzIVAbDD2yj5sIKBHPpRWzrCOnvkJYNGu4Werl1BAg0g30OoPXrbCutzQQLKu5uvBhJnughOhEnsuNqZ4HuLyb4XpsMQ-Ej_CVhO_x_NqOB9XtJeXTK0V742Wp257_P67qnk0RhQ/s640/IMG_2240.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I should get a lot more use out of this dress as it really is just about reasonless Looks great with a black cardigan and may even work with boots.<br />
<br />
Unless a special occasion comes up, I'm taking a break from dresses. That's okay; there is plenty else to sew. I'm planning a coat, more jeans and bras.<br />

<div>
On Pattern Review, Catina , The Pattern Hack Fairy", drafted a skirt pattern for someone who had asked for help in finding a pattern to recreate a Milly skirt with lovely pleating.<br />
<br />
<br />
Although I was searching for fabric for a skirt that would match a sweater I love very much, when I saw this fabric at <a href="http://www.moodfabrics.com/">Mood </a>I thought sundress.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHHKxHIeRLmtpppzbv0pS0D5YkJE1om8Vdee3doijdYx-ZLzOqc9BCYD3BaB2ThfedZqSIU6hqNEtVLnMLiDCZJviKn5vKfHj_JcxgKAtsM02qOjpDFK5xst1NNWm79y6b7YdmqLLuZm4/s1600/IMG_2368.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHHKxHIeRLmtpppzbv0pS0D5YkJE1om8Vdee3doijdYx-ZLzOqc9BCYD3BaB2ThfedZqSIU6hqNEtVLnMLiDCZJviKn5vKfHj_JcxgKAtsM02qOjpDFK5xst1NNWm79y6b7YdmqLLuZm4/s640/IMG_2368.JPG" width="360" /></a>I</div>
<br />
<br />
The fabric was a bit stiff when purchased, but that totally washed away with one washing. I thought it might have been a plus for the pleating, but now it is so soft and comfortable.<br />
<br />
I was very creative here and I all worked out very well.<br />
<br />
I started with my TNT shift dress pattern. It's from an old Butterick coordinate pattern. The number is B5147, but it could have been any darted shift dress. The original fitting was done by <a href="http://www.kennethdking.com/">Kenneth King</a> at a fit clinic at <a href="http://www.sewright.com/">Sew Right</a> and I've sewn it many times.<br />
<br />
I cut across at the waistline, rotated the darts into princess seams and cut across the top. After the first muslin, I took quite a bit in at the back and the sides.<br />
<br />
The skirt was cut from the pattern posted through Pattern Review and it matched up to the bodice very well.<br />
<br />
It has lovely unique pleating. Very flattering as you get a pleated skirt look while it is very flat across your tummy:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqJpMdY9zXhun_89utwYdrnfcQjovv1m3vbKsi79Dg7VyApNpBo1g1Z-CxcTEzzPbxg_9IvHkqSx-qSICEmho5HQ_9w3YWC5Jsx6r52YTluDvrfMFpgxkLpAt3QjIm0Drgk1zHtUz4yYU/s1600/IMG_2410.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqJpMdY9zXhun_89utwYdrnfcQjovv1m3vbKsi79Dg7VyApNpBo1g1Z-CxcTEzzPbxg_9IvHkqSx-qSICEmho5HQ_9w3YWC5Jsx6r52YTluDvrfMFpgxkLpAt3QjIm0Drgk1zHtUz4yYU/s640/IMG_2410.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Bodice only was lined and bra carriers were added to the straps;<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCLkaD4xq2bVt5qvUWMNOgJlwi0bjZK3KVVGpUzCl1LXq5gne46RIDIDYQub-FpvWvJuhvkscSLw7Sw4CSAShybY0nVp41TgYELC8FOiakgeIsGdPhrPdvovHL8Jwx2RvDqk34wgHN-3Y/s1600/IMG_2411.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCLkaD4xq2bVt5qvUWMNOgJlwi0bjZK3KVVGpUzCl1LXq5gne46RIDIDYQub-FpvWvJuhvkscSLw7Sw4CSAShybY0nVp41TgYELC8FOiakgeIsGdPhrPdvovHL8Jwx2RvDqk34wgHN-3Y/s640/IMG_2411.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I added pockets, nabbing the pattern piece from a random pattern, because, well pockets!<br />
<br />
The lining was hand stitched down at the bottom of the bodice and to the zipper. I have never been successful at machine stitching the lining to the zipper.<br />
<br />
Hem was finished with Hung Sung seam tape and hand stitched.<br />
<br />
For no reason at all I had issues in getting the zipper so that the seams matched up. With a bit of persistence (and basting only a few inches many times) I eventually concurred it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So the 3rd skirt post in a row.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Fabric was my last purchase made at Chic Fabrics before it closed. It's a charmeuse with matte dots and I've used it wrong side up so it is matte with charmeuse dots. I just love a fun skirt, worn with solid tops and the colors of this print are totally me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
No pattern, no hand sewing. I took my 1 yard of fabric and cut a waist band off of one selvedge side. Cut the remaining piece in have crosswise. Then I cut 2 pieces of Bemberg lining the same size less 1" along the long side. With both the main fabric and the lining I sewed the two respecitve pieces together on the short sides. Next the body and lining were sewn along the long end, which became the hem line. Side seam had a zipper inserted and sewn. Waistband created and attached with a single button for closure and done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's a look at the no hem hem:</div>

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">This is my TNT skirt pattern that <a href="http://domesticcoquinette.blogspot.com/">Claire</a> helped fit for me. I can no longer locate the Sarah Verblen fitting tutorial I started with. The same info is in an article in the July 2015 issue of Threads. They must have taken down the tutorial when the article was published.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The closure is an exposed brass zipper in the back:</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Those funny squares showing in the photo do not show in real life. Navy is just as hard to photograph as black.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">When I purchased the fabric, I was told me to be careful with how I stabilized the waistline to keep it from stretching, since I wasn't going to put in a waistband.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I decided that I would use Petersham ribbon. I found <a href="http://yousewgirl.blogspot.com/2011/07/nl6274-lining-facing-with-petersham.html">this tutorial</a>:</span><br />

Getting a good one is on the long list of things to do.<br />
<br />
The question mark in the title is there as I'm in almost no way a animal print kind of person.<br />
<br />
Well I do make one exception, cows.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglLhZz2HVOkaMAi4dqnfRxCElewQO8suWPa-D4Z5YtFojrcHpwOcbmCllIXak1hEIP_QFi-uMxBYbxRdSL1LoW2IAzmzIwIP7LSfnWGX0owAnNyiUtDFc2BSGCFIBb56BsGkzGl7ANrbs/s1600/IMG_2202.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglLhZz2HVOkaMAi4dqnfRxCElewQO8suWPa-D4Z5YtFojrcHpwOcbmCllIXak1hEIP_QFi-uMxBYbxRdSL1LoW2IAzmzIwIP7LSfnWGX0owAnNyiUtDFc2BSGCFIBb56BsGkzGl7ANrbs/s400/IMG_2202.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
But I don't think there are cows in the jungle anyway.<br />
<br />
I had an occasion I was making a dress for. The occasion didn't necessitate something very dressy, but I wanted something new.<br />
<br />
The dress was a big failure and ended up, for multiple reasons in the trash.<br />
<br />
So as one does, the Tuesday before the event I ran to Mood and purchased a small cut of a very lovely Alice and Olivia of fabric (not found on the website). The fabric is a lovely cotton brocade. Weighty with out being too heavy.<br />
<br />
The matching sweater and shoes were already in the wardrobe for a perfect outfit. I've been know to walk into a fabric store with a shoe to look for coordinating fabric. This time i wore the sweater. 48 hours later I had a perfect skirt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8yYthM052ikiWsVCGwHYBIpJbqcjlbwvE5nY4IyYxwthAHxEz6MHJCrkSVFO3OundUNuR9N9Tuv2hgrL_a5CoH6cR__NIqsK7WNEU44Nv_Hw15XeC6Cx8a3ZZvwa2W1nwGPAafg5SMJQ/s1600/IMG_2156.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8yYthM052ikiWsVCGwHYBIpJbqcjlbwvE5nY4IyYxwthAHxEz6MHJCrkSVFO3OundUNuR9N9Tuv2hgrL_a5CoH6cR__NIqsK7WNEU44Nv_Hw15XeC6Cx8a3ZZvwa2W1nwGPAafg5SMJQ/s640/IMG_2156.JPG" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then I realized that the pattern is cheetah.<br />

<br />
So I'm in for Jungle January.<br />
<br />
I'm having a patterned skirt moment. It is a rather simple make, but it is the kind of thing I'm likely to get a lot of use from. There's another one coming up and I expecting that there will be more. As long as I already have the top to match. I'm really avoiding orphan makes these days.<br />
<br />
<br />MakeitAnyWearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06370808424691476472noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8287151389638095210.post-6183304562675444512015-09-16T18:48:00.000-07:002015-09-16T18:48:34.520-07:00Finally... A Skirt That Fits<br />
<br />
Here's the last of the summer sewing.<br />
<br />
I'm very excited about this one. All my skirts, self made and RTW, usually fold at the top of the waistline in an uncomfortable way. I've solved that with this one:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPWriz0DO9Ym-ummEXWPX2QUbsK0ZpizdKaDzoYk6Pwa6sDKwm-0YTcMfngr55Vt9_n1xqJ7ew95p8X0YwKsKAkF2uriewLm81SDqfcqXI1BoMKJCldEWulAc0besEL5j1G5lrc1L5i18/s1600/IMG_2032.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPWriz0DO9Ym-ummEXWPX2QUbsK0ZpizdKaDzoYk6Pwa6sDKwm-0YTcMfngr55Vt9_n1xqJ7ew95p8X0YwKsKAkF2uriewLm81SDqfcqXI1BoMKJCldEWulAc0besEL5j1G5lrc1L5i18/s640/IMG_2032.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Unfortunately I can't seem to locate the fitting instructions I found on the web, but the method is exactly as shown in the issue of Threads magazine.<br />
<br />
My friend <a href="http://domesticcoquinette.blogspot.com/">Claire</a> helped me fit the skirt muslin. I used the basic 4 dart skirt from B4461 from which I had already straightened from the hip line down to remove the A shape. I added to the waist seam allowance another 1" of height.<br />
<br />
I sewed the side seams, sewed in horizontal balances line, through in a quick and dirty zipper and marked on the darts the outside , but not sew them up. When I put it on I pinned a piece of elastic at my waistline. Claire pinned the darts to fit my body and with a magic marker drew a line below the elastic.<br />
<br />
I took the muslin apart, balanced out the darts and copied it on to paper. I like to use medical (spa) paper.<br />
<br />
For this version I did a bit of work to the pattern. I created a contour waistband by drawing a line 3" below the waistband. Cut them off, closed the darts and added seam allowances to the bottoms. I attached the front the back at the side seam to create one piece and added a few inches to the front for the fly. To the main pieces I added seam allowances at the waist and a fly front which I copied from the <a href="http://www.store.closetcasefiles.com/products/ginger-skinny-jeans-pattern">Ginger Jean pattern</a>. <br />
<br />
Now to find a nice piece of Navy wool. I'm planning a winter version too.<br />
<br />

I have a dear sewing and knitting friend who each year, for my birthday, takes me to <a href="http://www.moodfabrics.com/">Mood</a> and buys me fabric. <br />
<br />
This year it was just as the Liberty prints had arrived:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglN-Cm0SxmrDwFhFQhf5qojmxmjdP9DYjtykLC8ACmH73EXY0rRnQSZT698Li5wR3bnsokNfiQM_Fxcf4bvzOE9GiFjtFRj0xDrN15Px_eWYGGDwf3wHs8hyphenhyphengx_NExp0qnz5k345RWsCs/s1600/IMG_2024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglN-Cm0SxmrDwFhFQhf5qojmxmjdP9DYjtykLC8ACmH73EXY0rRnQSZT698Li5wR3bnsokNfiQM_Fxcf4bvzOE9GiFjtFRj0xDrN15Px_eWYGGDwf3wHs8hyphenhyphengx_NExp0qnz5k345RWsCs/s640/IMG_2024.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Details are very simple. It's my 3rd version of this as a shift dress and the 6th time I've used the pattern. I intend to go back and document all the variations of this pattern as a post at some point.<br />
<br />
Full cotton lining. Simple pinked seam finishes.<br />
<br />
I already have a handmade sweater the coordinates very well:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYZu6LCGBWcGNg0Sk9t7rLD45IoHd5xLBFC8wwAvQK4vysTJiYrydOFDudn4flDLuoleZx3ClIVP_jD272Z7BbMSonE7Bmxn3pMjftM0qmYkf_c71CoxnKG7ODhC8z-EUBGgfUB0u-Itg/s1600/IMG_2025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYZu6LCGBWcGNg0Sk9t7rLD45IoHd5xLBFC8wwAvQK4vysTJiYrydOFDudn4flDLuoleZx3ClIVP_jD272Z7BbMSonE7Bmxn3pMjftM0qmYkf_c71CoxnKG7ODhC8z-EUBGgfUB0u-Itg/s640/IMG_2025.JPG" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
and was recently gifted this yarn which will make a shawl which will go with the dress very well.<br />
You also get a nice close up of the print.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I've been very lucky this year.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />MakeitAnyWearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06370808424691476472noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8287151389638095210.post-36069045659339006992015-07-19T07:15:00.001-07:002015-07-19T07:15:20.444-07:00I bought my fabric at Home Goods....<br />
<br />
My habit when getting out of the shower (or very occasional bath) is to wear an absorbent terrycloth robe and only use a towel for my hair. The one I had had long ago seen its best days as when I took it out to get some basic measurements, I noticed more than one hole and that you could see though the material in many places.<br />
<br />
Shopping for a new one I found most robes these days were either made of microfiber fabrics of questionable origin or were way out of the price range I was willing to pay.<br />
<br />
Then I started thinking about making one, and then I walked into Home Goods and saw this great set of towels.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiazJz3XjTLL1oeLcyVEqtXwC33saOspeYKpnCC4yCU3xBI_q5Kf2RO5GH-GK7Y5vgt85Uo63hDxKPpNL78iRYjlF-zWHsWFXYsVQgU0HOj60ZKnUywp4qBvjUDcMl0CJcikKW89YJFS_0/s1600/IMG_1965.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiazJz3XjTLL1oeLcyVEqtXwC33saOspeYKpnCC4yCU3xBI_q5Kf2RO5GH-GK7Y5vgt85Uo63hDxKPpNL78iRYjlF-zWHsWFXYsVQgU0HOj60ZKnUywp4qBvjUDcMl0CJcikKW89YJFS_0/s640/IMG_1965.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
Bought the towels on a Monday evening and when I came out of the shower on a Friday morning I had this to use:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyr47yUDBHXMUlmC1238LR5wLCQ25klUK9pUdxGe_AV_h-dB_oG8AP2hY3gRgrSV_m-0E2-fUAmscjR2cb0UKdWhOCP220FX4aD2iLj3lnpI-qO3gE6ln7vwf8TZmCl8flo9lb527ptxk/s1600/IMG_2012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyr47yUDBHXMUlmC1238LR5wLCQ25klUK9pUdxGe_AV_h-dB_oG8AP2hY3gRgrSV_m-0E2-fUAmscjR2cb0UKdWhOCP220FX4aD2iLj3lnpI-qO3gE6ln7vwf8TZmCl8flo9lb527ptxk/s640/IMG_2012.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I totally winged the construction. I took advantage of all finished edges I could, all other edges were finished with the <strike>tank</strike> serger. Took a crosswise piece off the end off both bath towels to give me a good length. Then from one bath towel I cut a 3"stipe off lengthwise for the belt and the big piece became the back. The other bath towel was split in half lengthwise for the two fronts. From the cutoff ends I cut a piece to lengthen the belt and the two patch pockets. One hand towel was cut in half for the two sleeves. I stitched the shoulders seams, attached the top of the sleeves, stitched the underarm sleeve and body side seams in one pass. The collar was folded back, stitched and then turned and topstitched. A stripe of purchased basis tape was stitched at the top neck and then the back of the neck was turned down in a curve. A loop for hanging on a door hook was attached. and belt loops added/<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
My niece (and nephew) came for a visit and I took the opportunity to take some measurement and custom make her some leggings. I have had fun shopping with her for clothes and I've had fun making her clothes, but this time was really special as we went <a href="http://www.spandexhouse.com/">fabric shopping</a> together!!! Nothing better than that.<br />
<br />
I used <a href="http://so-sew-easy.com/leggings-pattern-tutorial/">this tutorial</a>, which I had already made for myself. It is simple to follow and almost hard to believe that you're actually drafting a pattern yourself.<br />
<br />
How fun are these:<br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">At some point (like when I get someone to take all the photograph's needed, I'll do a post on the 5 previous versions. <br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The timing of completing the jeans coincided with the arrival of this:</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVp33UynYRvqLDdP60yyA9kIXaDlTTo1zLtTFFqsUfYHoXKX9v2vWH7axdTp0ubXS9LdXh5mphJbK2BOpNzDgkydtCf-kDSjJ1J7H8nuVeyD-Dqdf1dUWmRp4b3PzNtv5-bu6RMfVjzDI/s1600/IMG_1868.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVp33UynYRvqLDdP60yyA9kIXaDlTTo1zLtTFFqsUfYHoXKX9v2vWH7axdTp0ubXS9LdXh5mphJbK2BOpNzDgkydtCf-kDSjJ1J7H8nuVeyD-Dqdf1dUWmRp4b3PzNtv5-bu6RMfVjzDI/s1600/IMG_1868.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I got a great deal on a floor model of the B215. This model has been discontinued because they are changing the design on the front.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
I needed something to sew that I could get going on right away. I've lots of ideas to sew that are waiting for muslins to be made and fitting adjustments to be done. This was not the time for that. Sorbetto to the rescue. It was have been simpler if I could have located the pattern with the FBa from the first time I made it, but in any case doing an FBA was pretty simple especially as I didn't bother retracing the PDA this time.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Last years birthday gift from a dear knitting and sewing friend (the best kind of friend) was a shopping trip to Mood. When bought this fabric was actually intended to be a Sorbetto.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4n_dJ8f1soDbAn_ykS_a_au_2pSqjDNefJanJhPcFy7dAPVHRPnF5QZh3fwaHKlsEopK1I5t7yt0_LdjpayKBx2bQLx9FUGBfW8jkK9Bq5fUG0b2e4DRt1B1KdCwdhu1l-mCivLrhWJw/s1600/IMG_1843.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4n_dJ8f1soDbAn_ykS_a_au_2pSqjDNefJanJhPcFy7dAPVHRPnF5QZh3fwaHKlsEopK1I5t7yt0_LdjpayKBx2bQLx9FUGBfW8jkK9Bq5fUG0b2e4DRt1B1KdCwdhu1l-mCivLrhWJw/s1600/IMG_1843.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's a detail of the print:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFgIaBiYCGZeejAb1CgsXNz7G9HZwBYdfGjTYCUbKCf3zANjfMUKeN3jeFqy6dgBvj4_dUxxMgfVFnW-2CpAmUM0ODh4bEaBCFmRSF252w7iC_0I5p4YE4n5-jy9c05E89Nsty6YHqR7U/s1600/IMG_1859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFgIaBiYCGZeejAb1CgsXNz7G9HZwBYdfGjTYCUbKCf3zANjfMUKeN3jeFqy6dgBvj4_dUxxMgfVFnW-2CpAmUM0ODh4bEaBCFmRSF252w7iC_0I5p4YE4n5-jy9c05E89Nsty6YHqR7U/s1600/IMG_1859.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
This was Sorbetto #2. Alterations were a FBA and 1" added to the length. I'm very shortwaisted and usually need to remove not add length.<br />
<br />
Got to use one of my new feet:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZjNYW-XRJ1m5e8UDlS7edjTHk0heEOIlPFzJ2opoYkbqcwwnOYlLgFh8WcxO3LcNEXjioZ3wvxH-g8HRAqyG-H5FwFkKn620U7B84MJx1knhQ96C47EtCE-VU3tUVyRmip18xzt7oD_U/s1600/IMG_1835.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZjNYW-XRJ1m5e8UDlS7edjTHk0heEOIlPFzJ2opoYkbqcwwnOYlLgFh8WcxO3LcNEXjioZ3wvxH-g8HRAqyG-H5FwFkKn620U7B84MJx1knhQ96C47EtCE-VU3tUVyRmip18xzt7oD_U/s1600/IMG_1835.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This was a most exciting purchase with my new machine. I could not get a stitch in the ditch for my the old Touch and Sew and one for the featherweight wouldn't have been as useful as the needle position does't mover.<br />
<br />
I used it with the needle centered to sew the basis binding on and the with the needle moved to the right for the top sticking, So helpful.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
A simple project but this will work very well in my wardrobe.<br />
<br /></div>

<br />
Do you have to do it all? <br />
<br />
When I was making my jeans, there were a lot of firsts. First time working with stretch denim. First time in years doing visible topstitching. First fly front. That was enough. So when it came to the jean button and the rivets I took them to the professional:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJqNaJAMxJ3eGC5YHc4xqAMFZwyUjRBQ9vi1dB1kDV9xpy-pk5RGWrBQ_AZQsn60SCcWLKgfNGeAH0zhfaKVCoKeH2EnNLKFYgQJw7GFHdRJHti6rTvhMT8ozAo-yC2osmCJneBQ0xG7Y/s1600/IMG_0267.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJqNaJAMxJ3eGC5YHc4xqAMFZwyUjRBQ9vi1dB1kDV9xpy-pk5RGWrBQ_AZQsn60SCcWLKgfNGeAH0zhfaKVCoKeH2EnNLKFYgQJw7GFHdRJHti6rTvhMT8ozAo-yC2osmCJneBQ0xG7Y/s1600/IMG_0267.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Nancy works in the window at <a href="http://www.steinlaufandstoller.com/">Steinlauf and Stoller</a>. She sets grommets, snaps, rivets and jean buttons all day long and I've know her a very long time.<br />
<br />
Many years ago I had a job doing customer service at a very high end sports clothing company. One of the products was very expensive skiwear and all the snaps had plastic covers with the company logo. (It was the 80's everything had a logo.) Of course they were European snaps. When a snap needed replacing we would take the returned garment to Nancy to be fixed. She was the only person who could get the cover back on to the new snap.<br />
<br />
I was avoiding buying a wire cutter, but I've been told its not necessary. Maybe next time I'll trying doing it myself, but it was fun visiting an old friend.<br />
